Justice D Y Chandrachud new CJI who hails from Maharashtra, will continue in the post till November 10, 2024, for a two-year term. Only one other CJI, Justice S H Kapadia, has in recent years occupied the post for over two years, from May 12, 2010 to September 28, 2012.
