Neyveli Book Fair 2025 concludes, Governor hails rich diversity of languages and culture

The curtains came down on yet another edition of the Neyveli Book Fair at Neyveli, the Valedictory function which was held at the Lignite Hall, Book Fair grounds on 13 July.

Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory function. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), Functional Directors of NLCIL Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) & (P&P) Addl.Charge, Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance) and Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL graced the occasion.

The function was also attended by senior officials of NLCIL, representatives of recognised Trade Unions Tho.Mu.Sa, Anna Tho.Mu.Sa, SC/ST Employees Welfare Federation, ST Employees Welfare Federation, OBC Association, Graduates Engineers’ Association, Engineers’ Association, Officers Association, women in public sector (wips), press and media representatives, teachers, students and the general public.

Addressing the Fair, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma praised NLCIL for organizing the event and for facilitating rural school children's participation through free transport. He emphasized that despite digital advancements, books retain a special place in hearts and remain essential for preserving India’s rich literary heritage. Highlighting the importance of culture in achieving the vision of "Viksit Bharat," he said a united Bharat thrives in its diversity, not uniformity.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli hailed the occasion as historic, appreciating Dev Varma’s literary contributions. He stated that NLCIL had contacted 653 schools in Cuddalore district, enabling over 75,000 students to attend. He also highlighted NLCIL's green energy achievements, being the first PSU to reach 1 GW in renewable energy, with plans to expand it eightfold by 2030. The fair drew over 1.75 lakh visitors, including 75000+ students, offering upgraded amenities, cultural performances, and engaging competitions. An e-Souvenir was released during the event. Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman welcomed the gathering, and DVSN Murthy delivered the vote of thanks. NLCIL reaffirmed its commitment to education and cultural enrichment through the success of the Book Fair.
