In Odisha, the severe shortage of all India Service officers including those of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service (IFoS) is having a direct impact on multiple fronts in Odisha’s administration. Out of a total 584 sanctioned posts in these three services, only 402 are currently occupied. Hence, a total of 182 crucial posts are lying vacant. The IAS cadre has 45 vacancies from 248 sanctioned posts, the IPS cadre faces a shortage of 66 officers out of 195 sanctioned posts, while the IFoS cadre is the worst hit with 71 vacancies out of 141 sanctioned posts.
