At present, five IAS officers from North East states are the Secretary in the Government of India. Pankaj Kumar of Nagaland cadre is the Secretary Jal Shakti, Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary, Port, Shipping & Waterways, Lok Ranjan, Secretary, DoNER is also from the Tripura cadre. Barun Mitra, Justice
