For the last 16 years a section of RBI employees who could not opt for pension in the year 2000 have been agitating for opening of pension scheme for one last time. Parliamentary committee on subordinate legislation in August 2017 had unanimously recommended opening of pension. This has been denied by the Government, even though RBI has its own pension fund and no government expenditure is required. This action of government has resulted in large scale discontent among RBI employees.
