Operation Lotus to cost BJP dearly?

Was Operation Lotus, somewhat hasty; and is the reversal in Karnataka for the BJP, a pointer to that? In the natural course of politics in States, anti-incumbency creeps in among the electorate, every five years. Of course, there are exceptions - Odisha for BJD, West Bengal for CPM earlier and Trinamool now, Gujarat for BJP and so on. However, the tendency has always been for switch from one party or other every five years. Before Operation Lotus, it was a given that the JDS- Congress Government in Karnataka, the Congress Governments in MP and Rajasthan would make way for the BJP in 2023 followed by Maharashtra. Operation Lotus is credited with toppling governments in Karnataka and MP. Otherwise, even in the normal course, it would have been BJP's turn now.
