Manipur violence will hurt BJP’s prospects in Mizoram?
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who has been made party’s election in-charge of Mizoram, is camping in the state to oversee electioneering. He has been busy addressing poll rallies and campaigning. He is claiming that Mizoram will transform into a prosperous state, if the BJP becomes a major player in the post-election scenario. But the poll strategists say that the Mizoram population is already lukewarm towards the saffron party and it is not an easy battle for them. Moreover, the people of Mizoram have strong ethnic connections with the Kuki-Zos, one of two players in the violence-hit Manipur. The incidents in Manipur may not have a major impact on the current polls but there are chances it will weaken the BJP’s prospects for the future.
