Another round of Governor reshuffle soon?

Another round of Governor reshuffle is likely to take place soon and Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir could be next in line. On Saturday last, Governors in eight states and one UT changed. In fact, the gubernatorial rejig held recently has surprised many even in the NDA circles. While states like Maharashtra and Assam got their Governors changed, Uttar Pradesh remained untouched despite the likely end of the incumbent Governor’s term very soon. Almost all Governor appointees are likely to assume their charges in a day or so, particularly in poll-bound states like Maharashtra and Jharkhand. A tribal leader to replace Revanth as TPCC chief?

Perhaps for the first time, a tribal leader is going to be the new President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in place of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The tenure of Reddy as PCC President ended a few days back. The party insiders claim that the Congress high command has finalised the name of senior leader and Mahabubabad MP Balaram Naik, who had been a Union Minister in Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet. The party senior leaders are said to be of the view that it will send wrong signals if the PCC chief post is given to the Reddy community again. The announcement of Balram Naik is expected to be made by August 15, after the return of the Chief Minister from his foreign tour, it is learnt.
