Longest serving Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has Rs 3,930 and has never filed any income tax returns, according to an election affidavit submitted by him while filing his nomination. He has Rs 1,520 in hand and Rs 2,410 in his account in a nationalised bank. Any leader in the Congress or the BJP ?

Why Deepak Bawaria made Congress in-charge in MP ?

An unknown face in the Indian Politics Deepak Bawaria is now incharge of the Madhya Pradesh Congress. People say Bawaria who is a lieutenant of the Congress President Rahul Gandhi has been sent to MP to cut to size  stalwarts like Digvijay Singh, Kamal Nath and Jyotiradiya Scindia.

My friend who Heads a Policy Think Tank meets me at the Golf Club and over Cold Coffees and Club Sandwiches we get chatting.

Me: So what are your Budget expectations...

Friend: Well Budget is now in a File with FM......he'll be reading it to himself (Jan 31)...thinking and marking areas where he needs to orate forcefully and where he needs to exude confidence...expectation list....Big allocation to infra.....Big Boost for investors......Kickstart Capex cycle....Big IT tax cut....Big allocation to Agri Sector...Big allocation to Education.....Privatisation of few loss making PSUs like Air India....Liquidation of Stressed Assets....

Me: With rising Deficit...does he have room for such things..

F: A big bleeder... Fuel...was plugged...and he's getting more money via Excise on Fuel than UPA got..... AI and other stressed Assets could generate money.... FMs have to do a lot of jugglery.....

M: I personally feel there won't be any appeasement...just solid measures for Agri.... Jobs... Investments....

F: Fact is whatever investments that have been announced....like say for Education...it will take time to materialize... this Government needs immediate results!!

M: Some measure for the Agri Sector...that's short of ....cost + 50% MSP.... but in the territory that will be construed...some concrete step has been taken..

F: But usually in the last Budget before elections... Governments do indulge in shameless appeasement..

M: Not Modi....I think concrete steps to tackle woes...

F: Chalo tomorrow we will know... hear two of the respected Judges who had rebelled shook hands with CJI at a Bar Association function..

M: And then there were 2... I think in the end only one will remain... who is percieved as the Leader...

F: Though its been shown as a mutual decision... from Body Languages and visibility...one Judge stands out...3 must have been passive supporters...

M: Yesterday was Gandhi's Death Anniversary and as is usual every Leader landed up to pay respects... only Modi keeps remembering him... in my opinion the others forget him and the only reminder for them is his pics on Currency Notes!!

F: I have one observation....all through his life Mahatma Gandhi stood for peace, practiced and preached non-violence and forgiveness. He believed an eye for an eye would make this world blind. Still they hanged Nathuram Godse for murdering him....isn't it odd!!!

M: After he died they foisted him as Father of the Nation..but forgot what all he stood for...

F: Really so funny ...these definitions flying about...good terrorists... liberal Hindu or Muslim.....

M: Yup... if you espouse terror you are a terrorist... as for religion... your are a believer or you are not a believer... religion is not like a Buffet where you pick and choose what you like!!

F: Can they say ...so and so is a good Congi as he believes in Sonia... so and so not a good Congi as he partially believes in Sonia...the latter would be chucked out!!!

M: Congress hell bent on proving RaGa is a Shiv Bhakt..

F: Majboori...all Parties from SP to BSP to AAP to JD (U) to RJD ...all after the Muslim Votes. Congress hopes will make up its partially lost Muslim Votes... because of the competition.... by gaining some Hindu Votes!!!

M: And the funniest part is ....Republic Day Parade... a Dalit ...OBC and 10 ASEAN Dignitaries were saluted by all those marching... and a Jenue dhari Brahmin sat in 6th row in the VIP enclosure sulking!!

We have a good laugh...pay the tab and walk out.....
