Politically motivated? In Odisha, all government buildings to wear orange colour

All government buildings will wear orange colour in Odisha as the state government has decided to paint all its offices replacing existing colours. Works Department Special Secretary Lakshmi Kanta Padhi has written a letter to the engineer-in-chief of different wings, MD of the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Ltd (OB&CC) and all chief engineers under the department in this regard. All new government offices as well as existing buildings will adopt a uniform colour code at the time of periodical repair or renovation work. While the exterior wall colour will be orange shade (RGB 254, 190, 152), the border will be coloured red (RGB 177, 85, 79). Now the analysts are trying to find out any political significance of the decision.

Why Congress high command picked up  Sarkar as the new West Bengal chief?

As Subhankar Sarkar, the 64-year-old Congressman was elevated to the PCC President post, the political analysts are trying to decode the decision. Sarkar does not have any mass base in any district of West Bengal. The party has recently removed Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, known for his frequent outbursts against the Chief Minister and the TMC that caused embarrassment to the Congress national leadership. Sarkar, a Congress veteran has never switched camps. His lack of a base in districts worked in his favour as local compulsions force the leaders to take an anti-TMC pitch. National compulsions make the Congress high command to ensure a cordial relation with the TMC. Since Sarkar has no inclination to protect his local base by fighting the TMC, the high command will find it easier to work with him. The question of alliance keeps troubling the Bengal Congress. Chowdhury was a strong supporter of the Left-Congress alliance and enjoys a good rapport with Bengal CPI(M) leadership. The Left and the Congress fought the 2016 and 2021 assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha election together.
