Assembly elections in Maharashtra but parties roped in prominent leaders from Karnataka

As campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections intensifies, the state leaders are more interested in inviting party big guns from the adjoining Karnataka state. The reason is, Kannada-speaking voters are key to the poll outcome in around 15 assembly seats in various Maharashtra districts, including Sangli, Kolhapur and Latur. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have roped in prominent leaders from the neighbouring state. Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly will be held on November 20.

BJP has an edge in Maharashtra and Jharkhand polls?

As Maharashtra and Jharkhand prepare for the 2024 assembly elections, the BJP appears to significantly bolster its image. In Maharashtra, the BJP's strategic alliances give an edge to the party. Additionally, the party has been keen to restore its traditional OBC support base. In Jharkhand, the BJP’s focus has been on tribal outreach. Importantly, both states also benefit from the BJP’s formidable organisational structure, with strong grassroots mobilisation led by the RSS, adding an additional layer of political advantage.
