Will AJSU pose a stiff challenge to India bloc in Jharkhand?

Born out of Jharkhand’s statehood movement, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) is likely to pose a serious challenge to India bloc in the Assembly elections. The party is seemingly an established player in the political landscape of Jharkhand and is contesting 10 seats, as NDA constituent. The party is going into the election highlighting the corruption of the JMM government led by Hemant Soren. AJSU boasts of a support base among the Kudmi Mahto community, which comprises 15% of the state population.

CPI (M) criticises own leadership, admits not doing enough to counter political adversaries

As CPI(M) foothold is drastically reducing in the country, its Political Review Report adopted at the party’s Central Committee meeting admits that the party activities against communalism are confined to conventions and some limited campaigns, and the party has still not taken the ideological and political action against Hindutva deep among people or its own members. This critical evaluation blames its own top leadership and said, the Polit Bureau has not given sufficient guidance to the state committees to concretise how to integrate its anti-communal campaign with the overall campaign. “We are still lagging in integrating the fight on economic and livelihood issues with the struggle against the divisive and reactionary role of Hindutva”. This report will form the base for the draft of the Political Resolution to be presented in the Party Congress in coming April.
