Can Adani issue be discussed in Parliament?

On being asked by the Whispers in the Corridors, whether the Adani case can be discussed in the Parliament, former Secretary General Mrs. Snehlata Shrivastava replied that, "As per Lok Sabha practice and procedures, nothing can be discussed about an individual who is not present there to defend himself/herself in the House."

Another jolt in store for Sharad Pawar and Uddhav

After the dismal performance in Maharashtra polls by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), there will be no Leader of Opposition as parties failed to garner seats needed to stake the claim. But here is a different story. Now Sharad Pawar, the Chief of his faction and two prominent leaders of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray)- Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi will not be able to return to the Rajya Sabha. Pawar and Chaturvedi will complete their terms by April 3, 2026 while Sanjay Raut will finish his term by July 22, 2028.

BJP to enjoy majority in Rajya Sabha after resounding victory

The BJP-led alliance's resounding victory in Maharashtra has strengthened its chances of securing a majority in Rajya Sabha. Maharashtra elects 19 members to the house of elders. According to the current tally of seats in the state, the BJP holds seven seats while the Congress has three, Shiv Sena one, Shiv Sena (UBT) two, NCP three, NCP (Sharad Pawar) two, and the Republican Party of India (Athawale) one. With 95 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP's combined total with allies reaches 112, along with six nominated members. The historic victory in the recently concluded VS polls is likely to push BJP beyond the halfway mark in the 245-member House.
