Political asylum a bone of contention

Bangladesh is seeking an extradition for Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Prime Minister. Bangladesh started bearing a grudge against India because of political asylum given to her. It is clear that India will not deport her and face the wrath of Bangladesh. This affair will sour relations between two countries. China is presently holding a grudge against India for providing political asylum to Buddhist Dharma Guru Dalai Lama.

Nitish will be NDA leader for Bihar polls

Recently, conflicting statements among NDA allies in Bihar led to speculations that Nitish Kumar might not lead the coalition in the next year’s assembly polls. However, the BJP leadership, aiming to resolve mutual dissatisfaction and maintain harmony, asked its Bihar leaders to refrain from public rhetoric on the issue. The BJP has now clarified its position and said that Nitish Kumar will be the face of the NDA in the Bihar elections, solidifying his position at the forefront of the alliance. JD (U)’s support is also crucial for the stability of NDA government at the Centre.
