Delhi Election: For first time, Hindutva takes center stage

Taking its cue from the BJP, AAP’s Chief Arvind Kejriwal is emphasizing his devotion to Lord Rama and Hanuman, actively engaging with Hindu religious leaders and introducing welfare schemes for priests and granthis (Sikh religious leaders). It is considered a bold step in politics. Kejriwal’s focus on Hindutva has drawn sharp reactions from the BJP. The party has held press conferences criticizing the scheme and even staged protests outside Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi. However, this aggressive shift of AAP seems to position Kejriwal ahead in this emerging political race. In a surprising twist, the BJP has also begun raising concerns about the neglect of imams, signalling a complex political strategy.
