Site for late Pranab Mukherjee's samadhi approved

The Housing Ministry has approved a site for the samadhi of late Pranab Mukharjee, former President of India.  The samadhi will be developed within Rashtriya Smriti Complex in Rajghat. Pranab's daughter Sharmishtha met PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi to express thanks and gratitude for the Government’s decision to create a memorial for late Mukherjee.

Milkipur by-election gains political focus

Milkipur by-election in UP gains political focus as both BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) intensify their campaigns. Political stakes remain high for the Milkipur seat in Ayodhya district. The seat fell vacant after Awadhesh Prasad, the sitting MLA, was elected as MP from Faizabad during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the SP dealt a blow to the BJP. Despite the BJP banking on the Ram Mandir's inauguration, they lost Ayodhya to SP's Awadhesh Prasad. In response, BJP is determined to reclaim the seat, with CM Yogi Adityanath directly overseeing preparations. Meanwhile, SP aims to retain its Ayodhya stronghold by fielding Ajit Prasad, son of Awadhesh Prasad, for the Milkipur seat, strategically targeting the backward caste electorate.
