BJP's Delhi campaign: A possible turning point?

PM Narendra Modi's strategic focus on Delhi ahead of the upcoming elections could signal a shift in the city's political dynamics. Since 2014, BJP has dominated Delhi's parliamentary polls but failed in assembly elections, where AAP won over 60 of 70 seats. This time, however, Modi’s “AAP-Da” (disaster) slogan, targeting AAP’s alleged corruption and misuse of public funds, has gained traction. Key controversies include CM Arvind Kejriwal’s bungalow renovation costs and ongoing corruption cases involving AAP leaders. However, AAP countered BJP’s allegations effectively when it attempted to show Kejriwal’s bungalow in the presence of the media. But Delhi Police stopped them to take mediapersons inside in a bid to counter the BJP’s Sheesh Mahal charge. Meanwhile, although BJP lacks a strong local face, Modi's active campaigning and BJP’s recent electoral successes in other states have energized party workers, raising hopes for a surprise outcome in 2025.
