8th Pay Commission: Modi gears up for 2029 elections?

BJP and PM Modi have started preparing the grounds for the General Elections to be held in 2029. The first step toward this direction is the sudden announcement of the setting up of the 8th Pay Commission for Central Employees and its pensioners. Union Minister of I&B, Ashwini Vaishnaw said in the cabinet meeting that this was not an agenda and the PM himself proposed the constitution of the 8th Pay Commission and this shows his keenness towards the welfare of the Government employees. This move has a political meaning also.

 

AAP to woo voters with new promises of freebies

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has established a strong track record of delivering free electricity and water, which significantly contributed to the party's impressive victory in the 2020 assembly elections. AAP has been advocating for the Delhi model in education and healthcare. However, Kejriwal recognizes that 10 years is a lengthy period in politics, and past promises may not hold lasting appeal. To engage new voters while preserving his current support base, he realized the need for new commitments. The recent promises of additional freebies should be viewed in this context.
