Centre forms 8th Pay Commission; pay and benefits from 2026

In a move that’s music to the ears of over 10 million central government employees and pensioners, the Centre has announced the formation of the 8th Pay Commission to revise the pay, pensions, and allowances of over 10 million central government employees and pensioners. This decision comes amidst growing demands for a new commission, with its implementation expected in 2026. The 7th Pay Commission, formed in 2016, is set to conclude its term on March 31, 2025.
