No sooner was a ceasefire between Hindustan and Pakistan announced than old videos and footage of former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi were flooded on social media recalling her stand on Pakistan and America.

Bihar parties woo Rajputs ahead of assembly polls

As Bihar gears up for Assembly elections in October-November, major political parties — the JD(U), BJP, and RJD — are intensifying efforts to court the Rajput community. Since April, they have commemorated key Rajput icons, including Maharana Pratap and Veer Kunwar Singh, the 1857 freedom fighter from Bhojpur. Last month both BJP and RJD marked Veer Kunwar Singh’s death anniversary with events in Patna. Rajputs are the second-largest upper caste group in Bihar, after Brahmins, and have traditionally supported the NDA. RJD now wants to change the perception that they are against the upper castes.

No takers for Congress' demand

The demand of Congress to convene a special session of Parliament has no takers. The party  is raising many ‘ifs & buts’ and said questions can be asked only when a special session of Parliament is called. But others are not ready to buy Congress theory. Even some in the INDIA alliance are not giving weightage to this demand. They favour that the government should give details in an all party meet instead of calling a session.
