The fifth session of the 18th Lok Sabha which commenced on 21 July, 2025 concluded on Thursday. This was the Monsoon session. As per information, except for two days, the rest of the proceedings of both houses were disturbed due to ruckus created by the Opposition over Bihar SIR. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla admitted that continuous deadlock in the house was unfortunate. He said that kind of language and behaviour witnessed in the Monsoon Session was not in keeping with the decorum of Parliament. Due to disturbances only 55 questions out of 419 starred questions, could be taken up for oral answer. Due to continuous deadlock and disruptions, the House could barely work for 37 hours in this session, he observed.
