BJP Weighs Two Deputy CMs in Bengal; Agnimitra Paul Emerges as Key Contender

The BJP is learnt to be actively considering a dual Deputy Chief Minister formula in West Bengal if it secures power, with party MLA Agnimitra Paul emerging as a prominent contender for one of the posts. Sources indicate the move is aimed at balancing regional, caste, and gender representation while consolidating the party’s organisational base in a politically complex state.

Paul, seen as a strong grassroots leader with a growing profile in the state unit, has gained traction within party circles for her outreach and consistent positioning against the ruling Trinamool Congress. The second Deputy CM post is likely to factor in caste and regional equations, with names from north Bengal and tribal belts also under discussion.

Senior BJP leadership is yet to take a final call, but internal deliberations suggest the dual-deputy model is being seriously explored as part of a broader governance strategy.

But, according to sources, forces are active against each other. 5 seats winner Congress said, secular parties oppose BJP-RSS rule in Tamil Nadu. The party has ditched old ally DMK to support TVK. On the other hand several parties are reportedly trying to block the Congress' attempt to capture power from behind the door.  Mani Shankar Aiyar blasts Congress over alliance with Vijay's TVK and called this act of the party as  ‘Political stupidity, immorality.’

West Bengal likely to have 2 Dy CMs 

In the Suvendu Adhikari Cabinet, two BJP leaders could be Dy CM. Names of Agnimitra Paul and Dilip Ghosh are in circulation for the job.
