Every man of action has a strong dose of egoism, pride, hardness, and cunning. But all those things will be regarded as high qualities if he can make them the means to achieve great ends.

Savarna agitation well organised

The organisers of recent agitation - organised by Savarnas (Upper Caste and OBCs) -against the amendments in SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities (POA) Act passed in Parliament in July 2018 – deserve all kudos because the even was well organised causing little or no disturbance across the country.

Imaginary Chat

My College friend who was out of touch for quite sometime  meets me at my favorite Cafe and over Coffee and Muffins  we get chatting.

Me: Long time my friend....last I heard about you was you've retired from CBI....

Friend: Yes... I thought it best to stay 'out of touch'.... my job was such...I am now a free bird......100% retired.....

M: So Mr. Free Bird how was it...

F: You mean my job.... very interesting.... lots of hard work ....lots of travel...and lots of frustration..

M: Frustration!!!!

F: Cite an example.... about a current frustration my former colleagues face nowadays..CBI has loads of info on a UPA Minister and his Son.... but somehow seems both of them are very lucky with Courts.... despite all odds they get Bail and even permission to travel abroad...its really frustrating putting in so much work.... and returning to the Office empty handed when you feel you have a iron clad case..

M: Like its said ... if you want to do Chori make sure it runs into Billions... chota motta Chors toh earn wrath of the System....

F: Now this hullabaloo about Mallya's Travel Notice being watered down by CBI....we are also under pressure... Public... Media.....Netas..... sometimes we do overreact .... like the Detain Notice on Mallya.... I'm sure the Legal Department would have come back with.... will not stand in Court as there are no bailable or non vailable warrants against him...though I don't know the inside story....just inteliigent guessing...

M: Yup Mallya was smart... before vamoosing he was cooperating....meeting Bankers .....seemed he was interested to settle his dues with some give and take....

F: Common sense... Banks who went overboard giving him loans would also come to his aid... Banks got wind of his plans but did not approach Court to stop him....

M: After he reached London  Banks did not heed Legal Advice that he should be restrained.  British authorities in London, a year later,  red-flagged a 17.86-million pound (Rs 170 crore) transfer Mallya made to a Bank in Switzerland. It was this alert by UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU), on June 28, 2017, that was communicated to Indian Investigating Agencies that triggered the move for Mallya’s 13 Lending Banks to form a consortium and jointly move towards freezing of his assets in the UK.

F: And its CBI that's being blamed for his running  away and siphoning money....enough of Mallya ......latest development ....best thing about the Michel Extradition is the sheer alacrity with which things have moved, post Christian Michel's arrest in February 2017; RaGa

and his ilk will now start whining about political vendetta but that no longer cuts any ice with the public, which surely knows better...

M: Yes Congress Spokesmen will go red in their faces trying to show Sonia and Michel have no connection.... feather in CBI's cap......now CBI will get his custodial intorregation.... some legal twist...there is also news that post the Court Order he has gone missing....

F: Like I said we work under extreme pressure...I don't need to elaborate  on this.... we know the huge expectations India has on us....I recall I went into a depression post Bofors investigation...topic change karr yaar...

M: That poor Lady Oza who conveyed Public's request to RaGa in Bhopal is in the Dog House now...

F: Scindia and Kamalnath will blame each other ....

M: And RaGa will move on to his next bloomer....Congress ji ajjab gajjab kahani ...

Babus Find Politics More Vibrant To Serve The People

By Sanjay Sharma

Much has been said from time to time on the merits and demerits of bureaucrats joining politics. It has also been debated for long whether there should be a ‘cooling off’ period for a civil servant before he enters politics after quitting or even after retirement.

While difference of opinion over these issues can never be ruled out, there could be no two opinions that, theoretically bureaucrats are most eligible and efficient persons for becoming politicians as they are well acquainted with ground realities - necessary for policy formation.

Having worked at various stages - at district level as collectors, at state level in secretariat and , in majority cases, at various positions in central government, they are supposed to be well versed with the ‘process of policy implementation’ - a boon to serve the nation  in their stint as a politician and as a minister in government in particular,.

But since the officers rarely have the freedom to work as they please, and are mostly employed in service of politicians and not the State, many of them  - eyeing politics as a vibrant medium of serving the nation - join it.

There is a long list of former bureaucrats, police officers, diplomats, technocrats, academics and army officers who are into politics.

They include familiar names like General VK Singh, Kiran Bedi, Ms. Meira Kumar, Hardeep Puri, RK Singh, Sanjiv Tripathi, Mani Shankar Aiyar, N K Singh, Satyapal Singh, Bhagirath Prasad, Yashwant Sinha, Ajit Jogi, Nagabhairava Jayaprakash Narayan, Alphons Kannanthanam, Jesudasu Seelam, J Sundara Sekhar, Arvind Kejriwal, PL Punia and the list goes on.........
