These Lok Sabha polls are bereft of the Ram temple movement leaders who had made there presence felt in the past three decades or so. All those BJP leaders, like Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh and Vinay Katiyar, who led the Ram Janmabhoomi movement in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, are absent from the electoral race this time. Is ‘lateral entry’  in GoI a step in the right direction ?

Recruitment at Joint Secretary-rank posts through “lateral entry” mode, which means the appointment of specialists from outside, has left many a Civil Servants, specially IAS officers, jittery. They say that the newly appointed recruitees who are junior to them have been selected for a senior and responsible position which is bound to create hurdles in administration. How far the initiative, pegged by the Modi government as a civil service reform, a step in the right direction ?
