F: (Brings two cups of Tea and opens the Box of Mithai) Arre Indians simply don't understand the Chinese psyche ... arre inn ka Bhagwan hai Money ..they use Money to ask for more money... you will see them burning fake money to pray for more money....they understand only language of money...

M: So you mean to say this present standoff has economics at the base..

F: Of course ... some strategic advantages ... but the real issues...one they are worried about India's growing Financial Clout ... a resurgent India worries them..then I am 100% sure they want a bigger share in Indian Market/ Big Ticket procurements....they want to show India its place so that within Asia it does not stamp on feet of Chinese businesses....arre look how they do business...

M: Kindly elaborate...

F: We treat Customer as God ....Chinese ... Customer is an 'acquaintance' till he is Buying... if they realise a Million $ Customer is at present not in a position to buy...this Customer is placed in 'Stranger' category .....this 'Customer' will not even get Email X'Mas and New Year Greetings ...their philosophy when this Customer is ready ...its our prices that will woo him ....they are not emotional like us ...Guest is not God... Guest's value depends on the Gifts ...or the benefits he can deliver!! And with Suppliers they are ruthless...never let them get comfy with them or take them for granted..

M: Yup this I have seen.....

F: See how they sell ...its aggressiveness... you go to a Shop and bargain and Shopkeeper will hit your ego... 'You no money ....you no buy'... and when despite bargaining you are dithering ...he'll shock you by saying ... Be a Man!!!!

Unless we don't think and act like them we can't tackle them...

M: So you mean to say we use Economics to tackle a Land issue ....

F: Yup... speak to them in a language they can understand... you talk to them directly about Land and if you give in a wee bit they will squeeze you more till you come to the issue at the bottom... economics ..

M: I also have a feeling that there is some inner turmoil in the 'CPP' there ...which World will come to know 15-20 years down the line... you have people from the Mainland coming here ...

F: Can make them out in a jiffy .. by their behaviour ...they show they fixation for money openly ...Hong Kong Chinese covert it up ...but in the end its money ..money ...money!

M: In US ... there are backchannel pressures... lobbies...used by big Businesses and then Nations have Lobbies...

F: Not so in China.....CPP would never allow it .... they have their Superiority fixation...they can take Money from Big Businesses ... that's it....its a Boss and Employee relationship.. .

M: Chalo yeh tantaa (problem) chalta rahe ga...

F: Arre I just read about Jio shaking up the Indian Telecom Market ..

M: Jio is Marro for the other Players ...one question.... Bhabi is Chinese... so she too has the same materialistic outlook ...so how do you get along ..you've been happily married for 21 years...

F: I know her mindset and discount accordingly....

We have a good laugh and I get about looking at Golf Equipment.. Balls and Knick-Knacks..

“Bureaucrats alone responsible for the mess”

The recent conviction of three officers including former Coal Secretary H C Gupta and two serving IAS officers — K S Kropha, former Joint Secretary in the Coal Ministry and now Meghalaya Chief Secretary, and K C Samria, then Director in the Coal Ministry and now Joint Secretary in the Minority Affairs Ministry has sent shockwaves among bureaucrats.

However the question that arises is that are the bureaucrats alone to be blamed for the mess or the political class should also be held responsible ?
