Who can counter BJP in Congress ?

In Delhi there was a discussion –who can counter BJP effectively in the Congress Party. Some name were floated but the majority was of the view that only Digvijay Singh can boldly and effectively face Modi-Shah duo. Let us see who is the choice of the Congress Party which is in a very bad shape these days.

Budget

My Neighbor who has huge rental income... idle income... and is a Page 3 waala invites me for for a Cuppa. The Budget has just been presented...

Neighbour:  What's the gup-shup about the Budget...
Me: Right terminology.... on the  day of presentation its gup-shupp only... the real picture emerges after a few days after the fine print and annexures are studied...
N: I'll be paying 42% Income Tax.... marr gaye... I should have migrated when I had the chance...
M: Property ka kya karte...and I know you have a weakness for Dubai...okay you'd be paying 0 Personal Income Tax but your rental income would be down to a pittance compared to what it used to be when you migrated...you know what's the Real Estate Market condition there!! So Net-Net you'd be losing there!
N: Bahi Khaata.... what's this!!
M:  It's a terminology  understood in India... and why not use an auspicious Indian mode to carry Budget Papers.... okay Loius Vuitton types would look down on this mode...but again it's  the much used mode in India...you take Budget and Bahee Khata and translate it into any Indian Language....Bahee Khata would give the apt message in any language about this Annual Exercise...
N: Thank God no Inheritance Tax....
M: Frankly Inheritance is sanctimonious and Government has no right to claim any Tax on it....any future profit the Inheritor will make from the Inheritance he/she will pay Taxes.....pay Capital Gains when he/she sells Inheritance... how can a Blessing be taxed!!!
N: Improvement  in Quality of Living...are they going to give Toilet Rolls in Rural Homes...
M: Arre .... providing Homes.... Toilets... Electricity.... Water ..... Roads .... all these improve quality of life.... this Budget 8000 + crores to Jal Shakti Ministry for Water to reach all Homes...
N: What the hell is Zero Farming... and why the hell does Government want Farmer to make Zero..
M: Mr. Partyman.... Zero Farming means Zero Cost....is Natural Farming... cutting out input costs 'Naturally'.... and its more successful where there is collective farming...the Produce is Organic and so fetches a better price...
huge impetus in this Budget to improve Social Indicators...and drive Rural Economy...
N: No thank you to the Middle Class .... it's  the Middle  Class that gave Modi such a majority!
M: Unlike  the Rich the Middle Class does not have a Quid Pro Quo mindset.... they are the 'responsible class'.... who believe in hard work... saving...paying taxes....they know Bonuses are a outcome of hard work...so they are willing to stand with Modi and hopefully the Bonuses will come in the 3rd year of this stint.....Modi's funda.... We earn our Good Times!
N: What a farce.... 5,00,000 exemption is true..... 5,00,010 you pay tax on 2,50, 010.... kya mazaak hai....slabs are same... 87A is nullified after 5,00,000...
M: You can give Rs 10 to PM Relief Fund and bring down your taxes to 0...
N: Hear what Congress is saying...
M: Like a broken record....  after every Budget of this Government.... 'its an insipid Budget' .... some of  the focuses that I see in this Budget...One grid-One nation, EVs, Clean-Tech, Digital Payments , Start-ups and E-assessments.....rest let's wait for a day or two...
N: Chalo.... I had sent a proposal to FM... to incentivise Investments in Primary and Secondary Markets.... Government should name roads leading to BSE on names of Big Investors.. Imagine on Google maps: To go to BSE: take Rakesh Jhunjhunwala road, from Safir Anand roundabout exit on Shankar Sharma Marg till you reach RK Damani Avenue.
M: Don't take Harshad Metha Road... its a dead end..

We have a good laugh and my neighbour  sees me off at the Gate...

Is India inching towards Presidential form of Government ?

Whispersinthecorridors has this indication from top bureaucratic circles that there is an apprehension of Presidential form of Government in the country. The logic behind such a thinking is – introduction of lateral entry System in bureaucracy (American system), appointment of IAS, IFS and Army officers as Ministers, selection of top brains in different sectors, portfolio allocation to Dr. S Jaishankar and Hardeep Puri, plan to import a third of Deputy Secretaries from private sector, efforts to have ‘one nation, one election’, strong PMO and last but not the least appointment of Amit Shah as Home Minister.

Grapevine has it that once the BJP gets majority in Rajya Sabha next year, Presidential form of Government will become a reality but will it be viable ?
