Politics is almost as exciting as war, and quite as dangerous. In war you can only be killed once, but in politics many times.

V M M Nair - Oldest surviving ICS officer is in his 100th year

The IAS fraternity today might be wondering from time to time if there is anybody still alive from the Indian Civil Service (ICS) to know about and even meet him by any chance. Two of the former IAS officers met him and conveyed their regards and best wishes to V M M Nair, born in 1919 belonging to the 1942 ICS batch of Bihar & Orissa cadre who is in his 100th year.

He is one of two surviving ICS officers in the world, the other gentleman being former Defence Production Secretary M M Sen, (also born in 1919) of the ICS 1943 batch of the Bengal/West Bengal cadre.

V M M Nair is also the only surviving Indian Political Service officer, who joined the Foreign and Political department of the Government of India in 1946 and then continued in the Indian Foreign Service after independence. In the IFS,  V M M Nair then spent around 20 years as Ambassador/High Commissioner/Commissioner and Head of Mission for India's diplomatic missions across the world.

There were only seven Indian ICS officers who were taken into the Indian Political Service, and Nair is also the only survivor, and Indian officer, who was interviewed by Field Marshal Wavell, the then Viceroy who directly handled the Foreign and Political department portfolio of the Government of India.  About  V M M Nair, Sir Theodore Tasker, ICS (Retd.), the Supervisor of Training for the ICS probationers of the 1942 batch had written a glowing character assessment in 1943.

Recently, Nair was visited by  B K Chaturvedi, IAS (Retd.), former Cabinet Secretary and former Member, Planning Commission,  Pradip Baijal, IAS (Retd.), former Disinvestment Secretary and former Chairman, TRAI, and Professor Sumit Majumdar, of the University of Texas at Dallas, who among his various activities has also worked on a complete and detailed history of the Indian members of the ICS.

Unless Congress aim is to block every Bill!!
And despite Congress's negativity Bills will pass still!!

BJP ko mill gayi hai RS mein Bills pass karne ki technology!!
Congress now can only rely on fakeology!!

TMC worried to pass Bills why Government in such a haste!
BJP's decided ... there's not a moment to waste!

Nation needs solutions and decisions and not time pass!
TMC's idea of debating is just indulge in useless bakwaas!!

Old days... Humme jaldi hai apni jebbe bharne ki!
BJP changed it to...humme jaldi hai kaam karne ki!!

Modi Bhakts worried why BJP is doing what Congress did!
Treated Profit as an abuse and did what Socialism did bid!

Creating Revenue doesn't mean making Rich pay!!
Pro both rich and poor Government should stay!

Value the importance of both! 
Rich give jobs and taxes unn ko why should  you loathe! 

And very good our FDI has gone up sharply ... but !!
Some red carpet rolling out needed futta-futt!

Try to get some Big Investors exiting China!!
From China to India aur iss ke aage ensure jaaye na!!

Give them the needed sops to start manufacturing here!!
Unn ke problems with an open mind karro hear!!

Lo jee Kejri now doling out sops!!
Hoping AAP's downturn stops!

Now Bijli sops to those using below 500 units/ month!!
Hoping AAP ki electorally firr se aa jaye Basanth!!

Delhites know these are all electoral sops!
Post election this largesse always stops!!

Post election there will be power woes galore!!
DERC will say Discoms say we can't subsidise any more!

Discoms have no money to purchase power!!
So raising Power Rates need of the hour!!

Abh Shriman Kejri voter bann gaya hai siyaana!!

Adds.. know what is golli dena or hawaa mein kehena!

RETIREMENT AGE

There are rumours that the Government of India is all set to increase the age of retirement from the present 60 years to 62 years. While many say that it is a good idea, others are of the view that it will not be good for the jobless youth ? What do you think ? Is raising the retirement age a good idea ?
