Dr Jaishankar’s ‘Diplomatic Corps’ putting India on global stage
Dr S Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister had himself been an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1977 batch, Having worked with the best talents in Indian diplomacy in various capacities throughout his career and even as Foreign Secretary, he is now closely acquainted with the working styles of most senior diplomats. Here is a list of 11 names of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers working as diplomats ( and one posted in PMO) , the Foreign Minister might be betting on, when it comes to furthering India’s new and powerful role on the global map for economic and military diplomacy with a host of nations.
Vijay Keshav Gokhale- Currently India’s Foreign Secretary. He is an Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1981 batch.
Syed Akabaruddin- India’s Permanent representative at the United Nations. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1986 batch.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla- Currently India’s Ambassador to the United States. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1984 batch.
Vikram Misri- Currently India’s Ambassador to China. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1989 batch.
D B Venkatesh Varma- Currently India’s Ambassador to Russian Federation. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1988 batch.
Sanjay Kumar Verma- Currently India’s Ambassador to Japan. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1988 batch.
Navdeep Singh Suri- former Ambassador of India to UAE. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1983 batch.
Sibi George-Currently India’s Ambassador to Switzerland. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1993 batch.
Sanjay Bhattacharya- Former India’s Ambassador to Turkey. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1987 batch.
Ajay Bisaria- Currently High Commissioner of India to Pakistan moving to Canada as Ambassador of India. He is an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1987 batch.
