Nepal seems ‘too convinced’ by this Chinese ‘soft power’

China's Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi is the trump card being played by China in Nepal as China has already strongly positioned itself in Nepali politics. Previously China’s involvement was confined to development of infrastructure in Nepal but no longer. Hou Yanqi was earlier also posted in Pakistan—a strategic location for China militarily. She convinced Nepal PM K P Sharma Oli to modify Nepal’s map despite some opposition from Oli’s MPs later. If you are allowed to use the word ‘soft power’ in diplomatic terms then –Yes. China has found this Ambassador to meet its strategic goals rather easily in Nepal. Would there be more surprises? Well…let the time tell this.

Nadda’s promisse to Scindia sends shivers in MP BJP

BJP President JP Nadda’s appreciation of Jyotiraditya Scindia, in his presence by his side, while addressing the party''s virtual Jan Samvad rally from Delhi and reiterating that all commitments made to the ex-Congress leader will be fulfilled has sent shivers down the line in MP BJP. State BJP leadership is already finding it hard to pacify its ‘oldies’ in the Gwalior Chambal region where state by-polls are due to be held before September 10. All 22 MLAs who had switched sides with Scindia want tickets from their respective constituencies from where they were elected on Congress ticket. If the BJP obliges all of them, what will be the fate of BJP oldies – who have been serving the party for past several years. .
