When printing mistake changed name of scheme in Puducherry

Pudhuchery CM V Narayanasamy has clarified that the free bread and milk breakfast scheme benefiting school children would continue to bear the name of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He said there was a printing mistake in the copy of his address he delivered on July 20 during the territorial budget that the scheme had been renamed as Kalaignar Karunanidhi scheme.

82% decline in Triple Talaq cases

According to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of Minority Affairs, one year has passed since the law against Triple Talaq was passed and there is a decline of about 82 per cent in Triple Talaq cases thereafter. If any such case was reported, the law has taken action.

Rly's first step towards private investment

Around 16 prospective applicants have shown interest in running the private trains against the 12 requests for private participation in operation of passenger train services over 109 Origin Destination pairs of routes This is the first initiative of private investment for running Passenger Trains over Indian Railway Network. The project would entail private sector investment of about Rs 30,000 crore.

MHA issues I-Day celebrations guidelines

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued the guidelines for this year's Independence Day celebrations. Due to COVID pandemic, it is imperative to follow certain preventive measures such as maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, proper sanitization, avoiding large congregations, protecting vulnerable persons, etc, said the guidelines. It further said that all programmes should be organized in a way that large congregations of people are avoided and technology is used in a best possible manner for celebration befitting the occasion.  It would also be appropriate that Covid warriors like doctors, health workers, sanitation workers, etc., are invited in the ceremony as recognition of their noble service in the fight against Pandemic. Some persons cured from Covid-19 infection may also be invited.
