New Party launched in Bengaluru

Citizens in most large Indian cities are becoming increasingly frustrated with inept urban governance. One such stark comparison in India is Bengaluru where the city has a lot of natural resources such as trees, lakes and gardens but suffers from very poor governance. Despite an annual budget of around Rs 10000 crores, Bengaluru is notorious for its stinking garbage dumps, smelly drains and potholed roads. The city is not only poorly managed aesthetically but the citizens are harrassed by the corrupt officials of the city's municipal body, BBMP. A year ago, some like- minded citizens of Bengaluru came together to form a new political party called Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP) with exclusive focus on Bengaluru urban governance and to contest the city's council elections alone. The party is founded by a well-known activist of Bengaluru - Srikanth Narasimhan - who also founded the immensely successful Bangalore Apartment Federation- one of the largest apartment complex federations in the country. The party has roped in eminent people from all professions ranging from local NGO founders to multinational technocrats and financial experts. Their Analytics head Sanjay Mehrotra is a former Operations Director of a global Telecom MNC and a practising data science expert. Their finance head Subbu Hegde is an ex VP commercial of a global industrial technology giant and a certified business excellence assessor.  Sowmya Raghavan, a PhD from Indian Institute of Science and an active civic volunteer in the field of solid waste management is the research head, to name a few. The party has launched an audit of the integrated financial system of BBMP-  that handles contract order processing and payment processing. This audit revealed an alarming nexus of a state government corporation and the BBMP, in siphoning off thousands of crores of rupees, by awarding 50% projects without floating any tenders.

Over one lakh domicile applications rejected in J&K 

Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration has rejected as many as 1,21,630 applications applied for domicile certificates in this Union Territory.
