A K Sharma, now a BJP leader

Arvind Kumar Sharma has joined the BJP in Lucknow on Thursday. A former 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer is set to become a MLC. Elections to the 12 seats of the Legislative Council are due on January 28. He resigned on Monday from the IAS.

Battling mental demons prove deadlier for Indian Army

More than half of Indian army personnel are battling mental demons and could be under severe stress with suicides, fratricides and untoward incidents accounting for more military deaths than terrorist attacks and hostile action by enemies, a study by think-tank United Service Institution of India (USI) has revealed. The study, which was carried out by Colonel AK Mor, has majorly attributed the increase in stress levels over the past two decades to prolonged exposure of Indian Army personnel to counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism environment.
