Two former IPS officers will fight polls against each other. BJP has fielded 2006 batch former IPS officer Ms. Bharti Ghosh against 2003 batch former IPS officer Dr Humayun Kabir of the TMC from Debra constituency. Both former IPS officers have resigned from the service and jumped into the politics.

Past performance forced Congress to accept few seats

In Tamil Nadu, this time the DMK has allotted only 25 assembly seats to ally Congress party. Reason, in 2016 Congress was given 41 seats but the party could win only 6 seats. According to sources the DMK was not ready to give more than 20 seats to Congress. In West Bengal also the Congress has to  be satisfied with only 92 seats. Bengal has 294 Asembly seats.

DEBATE : “BABU WORD”

The term ‘babu’ that reeks of the colonial era has been stuck with civil servants and other government officials ever since.

On February 10, PM Narendra Modi has in his Parliament speech, blasted the ‘babu’ culture in the country saying “Sab kuch babu hi karenge”. Earlier in 2016, the IAS Association has condemned the use of the word ‘babu’ and called it ‘abusive’.

Now the question that arises is - Is the use of the word ‘babu’ correct ?
