Cong leadership to face ire of senior party leaders at CWC meet today

The CWC meeting to review the poll results slated for Monday is expected to see tough talk by senior leaders who have been questioning the party’s leadership over a series of poll defeats.  The historic second term for the LDF in Kerala has come as a biggest setback for the party as Rahul Gandhi, who is an MP from the state’s Wayanad district, was personally looking after the poll management here. 

Is Gandhi family’s leadership of Congress worth it ?

Even as the Congress leaders were banking on victories in Assam and Kerala for Rahul Gandhi’s smooth return as the party president, the party’s failure in both states has raised more questions about the Gandhi family’s leadership of the party. It faced a humiliating defeat even in Kerala which has the history of alternating between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) lead by CPI(M) and the Congress lead United Democratic Front (UDF) since 1980.

Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the 15^th Chief Minister of Assam replacing incumbent CM Sarbananda Sonowal, it has been decided at a meeting of BJP legislatures held in Guwahati on Sunday. Uncertainty prevailed for a week over who the next Chief Minister of Assam would be.The oath ceremony will be held on Monday.
