Alarm Bells for BJP in Tripura

Having lost Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls to a newly-formed tribal-based party 'TIPRA Motha' followed by later’s domination in the village committees (Panchayats), the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura is in a tizzy. This has led to drifting of several tribal communities away from BJP-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) alliance. The outcome of the elections to the TTAADC is being seen as a major blow for the BJP also because it is considered as mini-state assembly in terms of political significance. Amalgamating various local tribal-based parties, the 'TIPRA Motha' headed by Tripura's royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman was formed only a few months ago.

TMC defectors eye ‘ghar wapsi’ in West Bengal

On TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee offering an olive branch to defectors, the BJP, which was on a poaching spree ahead of the West Bengal assembly election, is now facing the prospect of an exodus following its poll drubbing. At least a dozen Trinamool deserters who had left the party in the run-up to the state polls lhave expressed their desire for ghar wapsi. Some of them like Prabir Ghosal, the former MLA who joined the BJP in January this year, have even  heaped praise on party chief Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek.
