Grapevine has it that  Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is going to announce her future plans about the revival of Congress Party on November 19, the birthday of late Indira Gandhi.

GST hiccups

I'm driving down to Delhi and I stop at a Rice Mill in Karnal for a Cuppa with my Friend. He exports Rice and markets Rice in the Domestic Market too.

Friend: Should we believe Dawood if he tweets that he's 100% legit and is a victim of nefarious businesses of others.....

Me: Ha ha...I know where you are aiming this at... it was stupid on the part of RaGa to have said .... that he's a victim of corruption in Politics.....Congress is looked upon as the fountainhead of Corruption ...

F: He needs to step out of his cocoon and ask Indians what is their perception about Honesty and Dishonesty in Politics ...

M: Say if he asks this question in a Market place ...and gets answers that trash his statement...next day he will say ..corrupt people go out to shop... this is his mindset...

F: Like people go to Mandirs to cheddo...

M: Of all his bloomers this one is his biggest..'Most difficult job in India is to be an Honest Politician..honest politicians suffer a lot.... I have experienced it'...and most difficult job in India is of the SPG guy who stands behind him when he delivers any speech and this SPG guy has to keep a straight face ...

F: You put RaGa's statement to Indians and ask them guess who has said this

M: Hear GST causing problems for exporters ...

F: Loads and loads ....the execution of Bonds and Bank Gaurantees ...refunds take ...like forever.... instant refunds are like a dream ... Merchant Exporters now have to pay GST to procure... so there is extra cash flow... quite a few Services did not attract Service Tax in the past...now 18% GST... the biggest grouse is what Government claimed would happen automatically does not happen automatically......the IT backbone is not being able to cope with workload.......software glitches....

M: And what do Traders say....

F: There are some practical problems in GST Government needs to address ....give E Way Bill compliance some time ....Monthly GSTR 3B  summary return... the 3  returns proving to be a load on both sides....Matching Invoices seem to be unique to India. Could be aimed at preventing Jugaad. Just a relook is needed.... and the threshold should be increased to 1.5 crores....and 75 lacs does not allow inter-state purchase .  So a flat 10-12% for sales up to 1.5 cr....and permit input credit for inter State purchases...

M: Step one was to pass GST... if it was not pushed through it would not have been passed

.. now I think Government based on feedback will address genuine concerns ...GST already has inbuilt anti- Jugaad measures ...which will not be watered down..

F: The intentions of the Government are good and in Nation's interest ...but for 60 years we've accepted corruption .. in spirit of mutual back scratching the past Governments have looked the other way to our demeanours and we theirs ...we've been numbed...

M: Most difficult job in India after 60 years of Congress rule is to think straight  .... if you thought straight the system thought you were up to tricks ....though now I am seeing and feeling the change ...

We have a good laugh and my Friend sees me off at the Gate
