NDA is these days busy rewriting History with Jawahar Lal Nehru in mind, i.e. targeting him. Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Patel – both Nehru’s betenoire - have been brought to limelight only to belittle him, observers say.

Gujarat Psephology

I'm still in Ahmedabad. Today I meet a College Friend who works for a Japanese Company ....and who is also  a news and views buff. Over Dal Vadas, Bun Maska  and Ketli (extra sweet Guju tea in glasses) at a roadside Vend...we get chatting.

Me: So whats your prognosis for Gujarat Election..

Friend: See BJP has been ruling Gujarat for 20 years ...Modi is extremely popular... they are proud of him... and he's really developed Gujarat.

M: 20 years ...so there is bound to be anti incumbency ..

F: Actually other reasons ... after Una........ Dalits not identifying with BJP... then the Patidar agitation... though BJP Government has tried to assuage them... but its not given Reservation.. and especially Congress will add oil to this fire. Then a somewhat Congress like sitiation prevails in Gujarat BJP ...two lobbies..... the present CM and ex CM Anandiben, who is very cut-up...

M: Gujus also must be a little perturbed  about the hic-up in growth due to Demo and GST..

F: Yes that too is a factor..but then Modi's development record makes up....Modi has made Gujarat from electricity deficit to electricity surplus, loadshedding to 24×7 electricity......... providing water for drinking in all the villages and irrigation throughout the state by the Narmada dam.

M: Yes .... took a walk on the Banks... beautiful... wish if something like this could be done for Yamuna in Delhi... which is both smelly and poisonous.....

F: For that to happen there should be a BJP Government in Delhi State too... achcha... then don't forget Modi has made Gujarat a pioneer......... Industrially..

M: What about Congress... its depending heavily on the Muslim Vote..

F: The Ahmedias and Boras who constitute a large chunk of the Muslim Vote are with BJP... firmy I can say.  Congress ..huge dissent in Congress... Vaghela has already exited... Rahul's Leadership not inspiring them ... and then they do not have a tall Leader like Modi.....

M: And I think other Parties  don't matter in Gujarat ..in 2014 BJP got 59.4 % of the Vote. And Nationally its still very popular!!

F: I think Gujarati Asmita will subsume the negativity ... be it anti incumbency ... Dalit and Patidhar...and BJP will romp home. Modi just has to say ....Main hoo na ...or ...Hum tamaaraa maate tyaam chum....BJP will get anything between 135-150 seats! By the way hope your cars are safely parked in Delhi... hear Kejri's car gone missing..

M: He never had an Aam Aadmi mindset.... and now after his becoming CM it is so obvious... he's doing all that he said others do in nashaa of power....and all which he vowed not to do! Car was a symbol of his being middle class...

F: So maybe the Car has gone into hiding or committed  Hara-Kiri by drowning itself in the polluted Yamuna!!

M: Yeah become a clone of Herbie ( The Beetle car in Love Bug)!!

F: Kejri they say is a changed man ...

M: Ha ha .... ambition and ego can never be subdued in him... and believe me he is trying to control ... parr control hahi ho raha.... every now and then  both or either pop-up.

Modi alone can’t eliminate corruption  !

No individual, Narendra Modi or anyone can eliminate corruption single handedly.  At the most, Modi can only bring in tough laws and influence people to abide by them by his personal charm, feel surfers of whispersinthecorridors.com who were asked to express their views on – “Will  Modi’s dream of eliminating corruption come true ? “

Terming corruption as one of the greatest challenge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has few months ago called for special initiatives to end the menace in the next five years with the pledge of  'Karenge Aur Kar Ke Rahenge' (We will do and surely do).

But majority of the surfers who expressed their view said that it was foolish to believe that any one person can eliminate corruption, let alone Modi. While some said that the fight against corruption was not an individual driven fight but more of a systems driven fight which needs improvement in execution and establishment of accountability, others said that Modi has atleast called for eradication of corruption.

“If Modi really wants to eliminate corruption, he has to begin charity at home. He should set an example by taking action against his party and party men in various States facing corruption charges. Different yardsticks for different persons will not yield positive results in the effort of elimination of corruption”.
