Retired bureaucrats trying to achieve political ambition in Punjab

More than half a dozen retired bureaucrats are trying their luck to achieve political ambition by contesting Vidhan Sabha elections in Punjab. A former IPS officer, Iqbal Singh Lalpura has been roped in as a BJP candidate from Ropar segment, while ex-IGP Surinder Singh Sodhi is AAP’s candidate from Jalandhar (Cantt) and ex-IGP, Kuwar Vijay Partap Singh is also in the fray as AAP’s candidate from Amritsar (North). Similarly, a former DCP Balkar Singh is fighting election on AAP’s ticket from Kartarpur and former police officer, Sajjan Singh Cheema is a candidate from Sultanpur Lodhi on AAP’s ticket. Besides, Jagmohan Singh Raju, who quit IAS in January, is BJP’s candidate from Amritsar (East). BJP also fielded Sucha Ram Ladhar, a former IAS officer, from Gill.
