First phase of UP polls today to decide future of nine BJP ministers

The first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls on 58 seats in the Jat-dominated western region on Thursday would decide the future of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary, who has joined hands with the Samajwadi Party (SP), as well as nine ministers of the Yogi Adityanath cabinet.

Will it be a repeat of 2017 for BJP in Jat-dominated western region in UP ?

Will BJP repeat 2017 poll performance when it bagged 53 of the 58 Assembly seats in the Jat-dominated western region in UP riding on the overwhelming support of the Jats, the upper castes and non-Yadav OBCs besides division in the Muslim votes. But nothing can be said with certainty this time since the situation in the region has now changed especially in view of a perceptible anger among the farmers, say party insiders.
