Pakistani diplomats across the world are happy with the abrupt change in the Government of their home country even though the new government is even more unstable. Former PM Imran Khan often used to give his diplomats a dressing down in an undiplomatic language. Before his last address to the ambassadors as PM, he had suspended one senior ambassador for failing to do his job, the first priority of which is to serve the expatriate community. He accused the entire Pakistani diplomatic corps of having a ‘colonial mindset’ and of displaying ‘shocking callousness’ in dealing with their fellow citizens living abroad. As a final insult, he had accused them of being “even worse than Indians”.
