Congress unlikely to have Leader in Rajya Sabha?

Indication is that the Congress may not appoint any leader in Rajya Sabha to avoid further heartburning amongst leaders. Malikarjuna Khadge will sit on his present seat without designation of the leader of the opposition.

Will new Governor be able to rein in Bengal bureaucracy?

It took more than five months to find a suitable Governor for West Bengal and the Centre appointed C Ananda Bose to head the Raj Bhawan in Kolkata. He is a retired 1977 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer and was Advisor in the Meghalaya government. Now the biggest challenge before him would be to deal with the state bureaucracy who is in a defy mood against the Centre. Many IAS and IPS officers did not obey the GoI orders earlier. Even Central agencies are finding it difficult to initiate actions against those officers who are named/wanted in various cases. The state babus are not cooperating with these agencies. Experts opinioned that this could be the reason instead a politician the government decides to send a seasoned bureaucrat.
