EVM - Easily Vilified Machine

I'm seated in the Shatabdi ....I get chatting with the Gentleman seated next to me. After pleasentaries he informs me he is from the IAS and is on Deputation to Delhi.

Me: What's your take on EVM Hacking...

Fellow Passenger: Load of crap... I can say from first hand experience all these allegations are just Losers Excuses..

M: Just see the numbers and I hear there are levels of checks..

FP: I've conducted many elections and tested the EVMs hundreds of times... its a very simple machine...very much like a calculator....2 units ...Ballot and Control Units connected by a cable. The Control Unit has the memory..

M:  They say the EVMs can be fiddled with...

FP: 3 Claims.. tamper the Ballot Unit so votes go to one Party..tamper the Memory Chip so votes can be switched..tamper display unit for wrong display of result..

M: Can these be done??

FP: 2 ways...securing the EVM and and changing components or tampering the mechanism physically..altering the mechanism via wireless technology... Wireless is impossible as in the EVM there's nothing that has wireless connectivity...

M: What about securing the EVM and replacing components or tampering with the mechanism ...

FP: This mode is impossible because of the number of EVMs involved and People involved and also remember the Software inside is 'Burnt' so cannot be replaced.....and the checking process..EVMs are checked for removal of past memory...brought to District and Collectors carry out checks and then randomly allot EVMs  to Constituencies..randomly chosen Polling Officer get the EVMs 24 hours before Polling..then the Seals are checked and checks are done that EVMs are working properly..on the day of Polling mock Poll is done... all transparently as Candidates Agents are present...all this under 24x7 Security..

M: I was doing a check of the Numbers..as one EVM caters to 1500 Voters the number of EVMs used are huge..

FP: For 84 lakh voters in a General Election ... 5.6 lakh EVMs..

M: Viewing the Security and Checks its impossible for anyone to obtain the EVMs to tamper..

FP: The way Congress and all go on and on about EVMs ... tomorrow they'll  say in Gujarat very much like Idols EVMs also drinking  milk...

M: Or you press BJP button and your Account is automatically credited with a Bitcoin... and if you press Congress ..your Gold turns into Aloos..

FP: One Polling Agent had his Bluetooth on and there was a hue and cry that EVM Bluetooth was on for fiddling.. baloney.. simply don't understand what's  Mani Shankar's aim..

M: Simple ... Step 1... Abuse Modi and vent anger ... Step 2... Show Rahul in Command and decisive... Step 3... Take the blame  for loss in Gujarat... Congress will say had Aiyer  not yapped Congress would have won...but for Aiyer, Rahul had practically led Congress to victory...

FP: And then they can always blame the EVMs... Easily Villified Machines..

Train pulls into our Destination Station and we wish each other well and alight and go our ways.

What will be the political scenario in the country after 2019 general elections ?

General elections in the country are more than a year away though, political discussions regarding the scenario in 2019 Lok Sabha polls have already started with many saying that BJP be given another chance. We invite views of our surfers on the probable scenario after next LS polls – Will it be a repeat of 2014 or will the Congress reemerge or will there be a rise of some new political force (coalition minus the BJP and the Congress).
