Postal dept starts mail transmission through drone

Department of Posts has started a proof of concept (POC) for transmission of mail through drone between Chowkham Post Office (PO) and Wakro Branch Post Office (BO) in Namsai and Lohit district, Arunachal Pradesh. The drone from Chowkham PO airlifted the mail parcel at 10.40 am and landed at Wakro BO at 11.2 am.  During the return journey, drone airlifted the mails from Wakro BO at 11.44 am and landed at Chowkham PO at 12.8 pm. Department of Posts has entered into a tie up with SKYE AIR Mobility Private Limited for carrying out the POC.
