Power to withhold or withdraw pension and gratuity if...

Now the Government has given powers to Secretaries of the administrative ministry or department to withhold or withdraw pension /gratuity in case where the pensioner is found guilty of grave misconduct or negligence during the period of service in any departmental or judicial proceeding. According to the DoPT OM dated October 26, 2022, CAG has been authorised to take such action in Indian Audit & Accounts departments. A provision for appeal has also been made.
