Preparation for Simhastha 2028 in Full Swing in Ujjain, MP: IAS Raushan Kumar Singh

IAS Raushan Kumar Singh is a 2015 batch officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and is currently serving as Collector of Ujjain, MP.  Singh is leading an ambitious city as it prepares for Simhastha 2028, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings

Ujjain is blessed with sacred Mahakal Temple and the Shipra River both holding immense historical and spiritual significance. Additionally it also serves as the home to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav.

We have already started preparations for Simhastha 2028,  as around 30 crore pilgrims are expected to visit” he shared

The preparations include creating accommodation facilities, construction of new roads, parking spaces, ensuring safe drinking water, sanitation, upgrading ghats along the Shipra River and developing extensive infrastructure to cater the influx of devotees.

Connectivity is also being prioritized, with the development of a new greenfield four-lane road directly linking Indore Airport to Ujjain, which will make travel significantly smoother for pilgrims.

Apart from Simhastha, the Mahakal Temple itself attracts nearly 2-3 lakh visitors daily in peak seasons. “During peak seasons such as Sawan, the number of pilgrims rises sharply” Singh explained. To handle this massive footfall, the administration is focusing on crowd management, improving facilities for darshan, and strengthening support infrastructure to ensure a seamless experience for devotees.

Simhastha 2028 is Madhya Pradesh ’s dream project ,a celebration of culture and faith. It’s not just the administration, but the entire country is watching in anticipation as the city prepares for its success.
