In a significant step towards privatization of two public-sector banks (PSBs) proposed to be completed in the current fiscal, the NITI Aayog has submitted the final list of names of the PSBs that could be sold off in this financial year. The list has been submitted to the Core Group of Secretaries on Disinvestment led by the Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba. On receiving its nod, the names will be passed on to the Alternative Mechanism (AM) for its approval. Thereafter, the names will be sent to the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its final permission before regulatory alterations could be effected.
