QR Codes in Police Stations? IPS Abhinay Vishwakarma revolutionizing policing in Katni, MP

IPS Abhinay Vishwakarma is a 2019 batch officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and is currently posted as Superintendent of Police in Katni, MP. His mission for the district focuses on ensuring citizen safety and building a technology-driven, accountable policing system that strengthens public trust through transparency and feedback.

“I am simply trying to do things that are good, and hopefully they will be successful” 

To strengthen supervision and community policing, efforts are being made under Vishwakarma’s leadership to improve Jan Sunwai, the public grievance redressal system. “We have introduced feedback registers in all police stations and also provided QR codes so that any visitor can scan and submit their grievance” he explained. When scanned, the code also leads to a feedback form that asks about the visitor’s overall experience - how they were treated at the police station, the time taken, whether action was initiated, and if there were any monetary demands.

What makes this initiative unique is its assessment mechanism. Based on the feedback received, a monthly ranking of police stations is prepared. “This helps us understand which stations are performing best in terms of public interaction and service . The aim is to build public accountability and to improve both grievance redressal and police behavior” He shared

Apart from this to combat increasing cybercrime in the district, a dedicated team has been formed that is actively working on prevention and enforcement. On the digital front, the district has gained significance, a pilot project integrating systems like ICJS, CCTNS, and other software's is underway.

With these initiatives, IPS Abhinay Vishwakarma is making policing not only technologically advanced but also deeply accountable to the people, ensuring safety and trust.
