In Rajasthan, the government recently issued promotion orders for five officers promoted from the Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) to the Indian Police Service (IPS). All the officers belonged to the 2016 batch. The Personnel department’s order contained an embarrassing error — female officer was addressed as “Mr” instead of “Mrs” or “Ms”. The female officer assigned new role is Kamal Shekhawat, who has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), Jaipur. This is a mistake that also appeared on the official civil list on the Personnel department’s website. Incidentally, her husband has also been elevated to IPS rank.
