Rapid progress of GMDC

In 9 months of 2022-23 GMDC has logged a profit of Rs. 1,040 Crores. This surpasses the highest ever annual profits registered in 2012-13 i.e. Rs. 904 Crores.

GNFC which is managed by Kamal Dayani Chairman GMDC&ACS Industries and Mines and Roopwant Singh Aulakh MD GMDC has been able to achieve this despite critical issues being faced by the company. Namely, due to mine sliding work is on standstill at Tadkeshwar-Surat Lignite Project, there are capacity limitations at Bhavnagar Lignite Project & the ATPS thermal project continues to be a financial drain.

At the same time, GMDC has been able to resolve many longstanding issues related to the thermal project. Namely, revision of PPA norms; allowance of capex pass-through & reworking of the fuel pricing formula. Further, work is underway to improve the efficiency of its wind projects and resolve issues related to the Tadkeshwar & Bhavnagar lignite projects.

There is a completely new direction in the Sales division with new initiatives in place. Like introducing dynamic pricing, new categorisation for better targeting, geographically rational allocation & allocation based on better customer engagement. This has enables better capacity utilisation with 10% better realisations.

The strategic transformation exercise ‘Project Shikar’ is underway to enable GMDC achieve its fullest potential.
