The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued guidelines for identification and implementation of real-time monitoring of bridges using sensors. It has been decided to undertake real-time Health Monitoring of different categories of bridges on National Highways using appropriate Sensors as per the following guidelines. Matrix of instrumentation covering the type of sensors to be used, location of installation of the sensor, type of measurement for different categories of bridges under different climatic conditions. All the executing agencies of MaRTH shall provide all the details of bridges, including types of sensors installed, the details of Data Acquisition System, software tools for analysis of their performance and outcomes of the analysis to S&R Zone of the Ministry periodically for further review of the guidelines based on the experience gained.
